Oral Issues: Types, Causes & Treatment

Oral Health: Types, Causes & Treatment

Dental and oral health is a key part of your overall wellbeing and health.

It is a lifelong engagement to preserve healthy teeth and gums. It’s good that you learn oral hygiene habits earlier like brushing, blowing (FLOSSING), and reducing the intake of sugar would save you from costly dental procedures and long-term oral problems.

Symptoms of dental problem

You shouldn’t wait to go to your dentist to have symptoms. Visiting Dentists two times a year, help you find a problem in your teeth until you notice any sign by yourself.

If you have any of the following warning signs about dental problems, you should have an

Get an Appointment with your us as quickly as possible if you have:

Ulcers, sores, or tender areas in the mouth that won’t heal after a week or two, bleeding or swollen gums after brushing, chronic bad breath, sudden sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures or beverages, pain or toothache, loose teeth, receding gums, pain with chewing or biting, swelling of the face or cheeks, clicking of the jaw, broken teeth, constant dry mouth.

Causes of dental disease

Your oral cavity is basically a home of all kinds of bacteria, viruses and fungi in your oral cavity. Some of them are there that make up your mouth’s normal flora. In small quantities, they are usually harmless. A high sugar diet, however, creates conditions for the development of acid-generating bacteria. This acid breaks down tooth enamel and causes tooth decay.

In a sticky matrix called the plaque, bacteria that are near your gum line thrive. Plaque builds up, hardens and migrates the length of your tooth if brushing and flossing do not remove it regularly. This can inflammation your gums and cause gingivitis.

There are many factors that contribute to gingivitis and periodontitis, including:

Smoking, poor brushing habits, frequent snacking on sugary foods and drinks, diabetes, medications that reduce the amount of saliva in the mouth, family history, genetics, certain infections, hormonal changes in women, acid reflux heartburn, or frequent vomiting.

Types of dental disease

It’s no surprise how many things can go wrong over time, especially if you aren’t taking proper attention to your teeth of giving the proper maintenance. We use our teeth and mouths a lot, a proper oral hygiene can prevent most dental and oral problems.

The other name of cavities is caries or tooth decay. It happens when Bacteria, food and acid covers your teeth and form a plaque. The acid starts to eat away at enamel and then comes on underlying dentin or connective tissues. And very slowly with time, it leads to permanent damage.

Gum disease (gingivitis)

Gingivitis is a gum disease that is an inflammation of gums.  It is usually due to bad brushing and flossing habits that plaque built on the teeth. Gingivitis could swell and bleed your gums if you brush them or floss them. Gingivitis untreated may lead to periodontitis, an infection that is more serious.

The infection can spread to your jaw and bones as periodontitis progresses. The inflammatory reaction can also occur in the entire body.

Cracked or broken teeth

A tooth can crack and crumble during chewing hard food or grind the teeth at night. A splitting tooth may be very painful. If you have a cracked or broken tooth, you should visit your dentist immediately.

Sensitive teeth

If your teeth are sensitive you will feel pain or discomfort after getting cold or hot foods or beverages. Some causes of teeth sensitivity can be: gum disease, receding gums, cracked tooth, worn-down fillings or crowns. Of course, some people have sensitive teeth due to their thinner enamel.

Oral cancer

Oral cancers include cancer of the: gums tongue lips cheek the floor of the mouth the hard and soft palate

The first person to identify oral cancer is usually a dentist. The most important risk factor for oral cancer is smoking and chewing tobacco.

 Routine Treatments of dental problems

You think that you have healthy teeth. Even then you must to go for an annual checkup or twice in a year to your dentists because your mouth is the gateway to your health. Your dentist will recommend other treatments if he sees signs of gum disease, infections, or other problems.

Cleanings: What a professional cleaning can do you can’t do by yourself to get rid of any plaque while brushing and flossing. Not only that it’ll also remove tartar. Usually, a dental hygienist performs this cleaning. The hygienist will use a high-powered toothbrush to brush your teeth because it’s a matter to remove tartar from your teeth. After this flossing and rinsing are carried out to wash out any debris.

Deep cleaning is also known as root planning and scaling. It removes tar from above and below the gum line which cannot be accessed when cleaning the routine.

Fluoride treatments: Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral. After the dental cleaning, your dentist will apply a fluoride method to help fight off cavities. This method can help bring back the natural enamel of your tooth and make them strong to fight against bacteria and acid.

Sealants: Dental sealants that are placed on the back teeth or molars are thin protective coating, which helps avoid the cavity. Your dentist may advise a sealant for your children once they are around 6 years of age and they get their second set of molars at age 12. sealants can be applied easily and without any pain.

 Major Treatments of dental problems

Antibiotics: Another method is Antibiotics. The dentist starts it when your teeth show signs of a gum infection or a tooth sore has spread to other teeth and your jaw. your dentist will suggest your antibiotics to help get rid of the infection. Antibiotics can be in any form such as mouth rinse, gel, oral tablet, or capsule.

Fillings: A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape. By closing off spaces where bacteria can enter, a filling also helps prevent further decay. Materials used for fillings include gold, porcelain, a composite resin (tooth-colored fillings), and an amalgam (an alloy of mercury, silver, copper, tin and sometimes zinc).

Crowns: If after an injury your tooth is broken or cracked or need your dentist will a crown. There are two types of crowns: an implant crown that fits over an already implant, and a regular crown that fits over a natural root.

Root canal: If tooth decay goes throughout the tooth to the nerve, you may need a root canal. During a root canal, the nerve is removed and filled with a biocompatible material, usually a rubber-like material known as gutta-percha and adhesive cement.

The bottom line

Your oral health has an influence over all your body and not just your teeth.  But in specific, poor oral and dental health can contribute problems with your confidence, communication, or diet. You cannot notice any oral problems without any symptoms and only if it gets worse. A regular checkup to your dentist is the best way. Although you can’t control cavity, at least you can reduce the problem.

Preparing for Dental Implants.

Planning to get Dental Implants in Dubai?

Prepping for any kind of surgery is naturally worrying, and it is very normal to have concerns. Although we offer same day dental implants, here are a few tips to help prepare you for the procedure:

Ask questions

Our first tip is to ask your dentist all of your questions. Your dentist can answer specific questions tailored to you. He will give you an individual treatment plan.

Generally, the more information you have about dental implant surgery, the more confident and prepared you will be with the procedure – so ask away.

Prepare for your Recovery

Preparing yourself for the days after your surgery will not only allow you ease of mind, but also let you feel more relaxed about it. Resting is important to your quick recovery, so schedule a few days off work. Stocking your fridge with soft food, and getting a family or friend to drive you to the dentist before and after surgery. This way you can be assured that everything will be taken care of, and you will just have to focus on yourself.

Treat yourself before your surgery

After your surgery, you will probably have to limit your diet to soft foods for a while, so we recommend treating yourself before surgery with all your favorite meal. Be sure to check with your dentist though, as you may be required to fast for a certain amount of time before the surgery.

A helping hand

If you still have pre-surgery jitters, it always helps to bring a friend along to support you. After that all you will have to do is look forward to your new smile.

The Benefits of Dental Implants.

We have the solutions!

Patients missing one or more teeth once had to select from very limited options, however, dental implants now offer patients a comfortable, attractive, long-lasting option for teeth replacement. If you’re missing one or more teeth, arrange a dental consultation and let our team of experienced oral surgeons show you how dental implants can restore your beautiful smile.

Here are some of the advantages:

Unlike other tooth replacement options, a dental implant replaces the entire tooth, including the root. A titanium Implant is inserted into the jawbone and capped with a replacement crown. For very rare cases whereby patients are to titanium we offer a holistic implant dentistry which used a ceramic implant.

Improved Health

Dental implants will replace the entire tooth, so you do not risk natural tooth decay or sensitivity because the implant fits into your jawbone.

Comfort :

Because they are fixed to your jawbone, implants eliminate the discomfort of removable dentures.

If you keep to a regular oral hygiene regime as outlined by your dentist, you can expect your implants to last a lifetime

Convenience :

Dental implants eliminate the embarrassing inconvenience of removing dentures, as well as the need for messy adhesives to keep them in place.

Jawbone strength

Dental Implants can keep your jawbone strong because they don’t rely on support from adjacent teeth.

A beautiful smile :

The dental implant looks and feels like a natural tooth, and can completely change the aesthetics of your smile

Improved speech :

When patients have poor-fitting dentures, they find that the teeth can slip, causing you to mumble or slur your words. Setting implants allow you to speak without the worry that teeth might slip.

Invisalign: How To Clean Your Trays?

January 29, 2021

Invisalign: How To Clean Your Trays?

How to care for your Invisalign Aligners?

If you have decided to start your Invisalign treatment you’re probably wondering how to take care of your new clear braces.

Invisalign trays need to be cleaned gently with water and a very soft toothbrush to avoid scratching them. Your aligners are more fragile than you natural teeth and need to be taken care of gently.

In this blog, we’ll show you some oi the best practices to keep your trays clean and sanitized.

Brush your teeth and your aligners

It’s best to brush your aligners, whenever you brush your teeth. That means that you’ll be brushing them at least twice a day. For the best results, we recommend having a separate toothbrush for your Invisalign trays. It’s also best to use cold water instead of hot water, as it may warp the plastic of the aligners. Be sure to brush the entire tray inside and out, making sure to rinse it out completely.

Do not use toothpaste to clean your Invisalign Trays

Tooth paste can be abrasive and will scratch your aligners overtime rendering them opaque. Instead you can use cold water, a very soft tooth brush and some clear liquid soap.

For a complete solution you can purchase the Invisalign cleaning system right here:

Store them properly

When removing your Invisalign alignment trays for any reason, be sure to store them carefully in their storage case. If you do not have a case in hand, the second-best alternative is to place them in a glass of cold or room temperature water.

To keep potential smell away, and improve the freshness of your aligners, store them in diluted antimicrobial mouthwash while you eat. This helps reduce the buildup of plaque and will help improve your breath.

Brush your aligners after every meal

Although you should brush your alignment trays twice a day, the best way to avoid discoloration and smells is to brush them between meals. If you don’t have the time to brush them after each meal, then you can take them out and rinse your mouth thoroughly, cleaning your aligners with cool water.

Contact us if your aligner is damaged

If you notice your Invisalign aligners are damaged, kindly call us immediately. Do not wear your damaged trays as this will have an adverse effect to your treatment.

At Versailles Dental Clinic, we’ve treated more than 20,000 patients with clear aligners since 2007.

Your Kids Oral Health Matters.

Good oral care today is a healthy pavement set for the future. Regular dental checkups are very important for children, as it helps maintain healthy teeth and gums.  Parents should schedule a dental visit with our Pediatric Dentistry specialist when the milk teeth start appearing. That will help identify oral health problems if any.

Oral problems are easily treatable when detected at an early stage of a child’s lifecycle.

The dentist after a checkup will demonstrate proper brushing techniques and recommend using a fluoride toothpaste – this helps to prevent and controlling tooth decay and hardens the tooth enamel.

Pediatric Dentistry is one of our stronghold. Have a look at some tips by our professionally qualified Pediatric Dentist in Dubai on how to maintain good oral health for your children.

Tips: How to maintain oral healthcare?

Avoid all forms of sugary beverages.

Brush your child’s teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush for almost 2-3 minutes, to avoid any bacteria build up. Change the brush every 3-4 months.

Visit a Pediatric Dentistry specialist regularly (every six month).

Make sure children don’t use their teeth for anything other than chewing food, as this can result in the teeth chipping or breaking.

Clean stains on your child’s teeth by gently scrubbing with a soft wet cloth.

Teach your kids how to take care of their teeth 🙂

Avoid using pacifiers on children.

Teach your child the steps of flossing. Make it a fun session with good visuals. Brushing your child’s teeth removes only up to 40% of the bacteria.

Always give your child a whole fresh fruit rather than a fruit juice.

Help your child develop healthy habits and always choose safe and fresh food over highly processed food items.

The simple answer is that Invisalign won’t deeply affect your lifestyle. Invisalign aligners are practically invisible, to allow you to carry on with your day-to-day with confidence. Gone are the days of regular orthodontic braces where you feel self-conscious to smile and reveal the metal wires and brackets.

With Invisalign, you will enjoy all of your favorite foods and drinks by simply removing your aligners. Invisalign is easy to live with contrarily to traditional braces which can force you to eat only specific foods. You can remove your aligners and store them in their case before eating. Are Invisalign aligners difficult to maintain and clean?

Many patients with regular braces find it difficult to reach in between teeth and gums because the wires and brackets are in the way when brushing and flossing. Invisalign Treatment: The Facts

May 10, 2018

Invisalign Treatment: The Facts

Invisalign Treatment, here are the Facts.

Have you considered braces or other types of teeth alignment services? At Versailles Dental Clinic, our team offers Invisalign Aligners – A revolutionary dental technology for straightening your teeth. The Invisalign treatment is a popular choice, as it is hardly noticeable unlike braces.

There are many common questions about Invisalign, such as: Is the treatment painless? Will the treatment offer me the perfect smile? Can I eat whilst I wear my Invisalign?

The Invisalign Treatment is painless

The Invisalign treatment is virtually painless and more comfortable than regular orthodontic braces. At the most, discomfort may occur for the first few days or when you switch your tray to the next phase, this is the pressure of your teeth adjusting to the new tray. Invisalign aligners have been designed to ensure your treatment is as painless as possible!

You can remove your aligners

Invisalign aligners can be removed when brushing and flossing. However, the biggest advantage is that you can also remove them during mealtime, allowing you to eat and drink whatever you like, without the worry of damaging your aligners.

22 hours a day

If you want to achieve optimal results, you have to wear the aligners up to 22 hours a day. The aligners will control the way teeth shift. Each tray will shift certain teeth, the shift is mapped out in your personal treatment plan as determined by our expert team to reach the straight teeth you desire.

They’re completely transparent

Invisalign aligners are transparent to ensure that they are not noticeable, unlike metal wires or brackets. It’s simply a thin cover over your teeth, which resembles your original teeth.

You do need to take proper care

Maintain a good oral hygiene at home or else you may expose your teeth to cavities and decay. Use warm water and anti-bacterial soap to clean your Invisalign aligners regularly. This is to prevent the buildup of bacteria which can be harmful to the clear aligners.

You have to wear a retainer

After your Invisalign Treatment you will wear retainers for a few months after completion of the treatment. As you naturally bite and chew the teeth, there is a possibility that they could move. Retainers will help avoid that and ensure the shifted teeth stay firmly in place and do not move around again.

Invisalign in Dubai, is available from Versailles Dental Clinic Dubai, we’ve treated more than 20,000 patients with clear Aligners.
